Summarizing the events of 2025

The year unfolded as a tapestry of learning journeys, thoughtful dialogues, and purposeful collaborations across India. It began with the Tribal Entrepreneurship Workshop in Chennai and steadily moved through a series of national and regional engagements exploring sustainability, livelihoods, and indigenous knowledge. From conservation-linked livelihoods to green economy transitions, each workshop deepened the discourse on local wisdom and systemic change.

Through the Swaraj Dialogues in November and December, Samanvaya facilitated reflective conversations that wove together practice and philosophy, while a host of seminars and conferences provided platforms to share experiences from the grassroots. The engagements ranged from addressing organic farmer leaders in Dindigul to speaking at international forums like the Local Futures Conference in Ladakh and the One Health Symposium in Coimbatore, uniting voices around the theme of self-reliant, ethical, and ecological living.

A series of lectures and keynotes—from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad, Chilka to Pune—offered critical reflections on women’s entrepreneurship, ethical dilemmas in agri-tech, and the emerging opportunities in green enterprise. These moments of exchange reaffirmed the need to bridge tradition with innovation in shaping India’s developmental pathways.

Interspersed across the year were visits and interactions that grounded these conversations in lived realities: meetings with Gandhian institutions in Melkote, Adivasi entrepreneurs in Madurai, organic farmers in Perambalur, and sustainable living communities like Navadarshanam. The dialogues culminated with meaningful exchanges at the Gandhi Research Foundation and an intimate interview with ASSEFA’s founder, Loganathan, in Madurai—encounters that reminded everyone of the enduring spirit of Swaraj and service.

Together, these engagements painted a vivid picture of a movement committed to rethinking development from the ground up—rooted in dignity, sustainability, and the wisdom of India’s diverse communities.
