Jaychandran has this infectious energy with which he is able to communicate the burning issues with sincerity and solutions with hope. Media personnel at the peak of their career often do not digress from popularity centric events, initiatives and pursuits. Popularity is the critical differentiator in the media sector and particularly if it is combined with performing arts.
As a television personality who is recognized in most households in Tamil Nadu, it is his training in social work and concern for society at large that stands him apart and his amazing initiative. He has been posting short videos highlighting environmental issues since June 5th 2024. It is the persistence and dedication of such a team that makes any idea become a reality. BluejJay Media has been posting a series of short reels on their Instagram handle . Today with more than 250 reels, this handle is a repository of some of the big environmental issues today. Congrats to him and his team, particularly Prof. Roshini.
Sure sharing of information and trying to convince people is not the same as creating forests, cleaning water bodies or protesting against yet another environmental atrocity by State or Corporate. However, when known faces talk about these subjects with the kind of passion and convincing arguments, the majority of the indifferent and uncaring world can sometimes wake up and turn towards doing the right thing. This is the most difficult and thankless job for anyone to do; that he does it persistently is a testimony of his deep conviction.
Couple of years ago, when I had met him for the first time, he was keen to set-up a Green Media House that reports on environmental issues online in Tamil and create content for people on such issues. Today when I see the several videos that are available in his handle, I am convinced that it is a matter of time before you get to hear a lot more of his productions. It has been a happy association, last year we jointly did an analysis of the state budget from the environmental point of view as an student driven event in his alma mater, Madras School of Social Work (MSSW), Chennai. I look forward to more collaborative ventures with him in the coming years.
(I intend to continue to write here many more such stories)
