30th October 2018, Collage of Atlantic, Bar Harbour, Maine, USA
Ramasubramanian, the director of Samanvaya Social Ventures and the Sustainable Livelihood Institute, speaks at College of the Atlantic’s Human Ecology Forum about his 20 years of social justice work.

Ramasubramanian, director of Samanvaya Social Ventures, LLC, has been working in sustainable livelihoods and climate change adaptation for two decades following the principles of Gandhi in Southern India. He has played a key role in the advancement of safe food/organic agriculture in southern India and has worked extensively in local solutions and rejuvenating village economies.  Most recently he organized a major conference on seed saving in rural India. Trained as an engineer, he worked in the corporate sector before leaving to devote his full energy to social causes.

…His talk will discuss how “that which sustains is ultimately that which sustains us all within.” He will develop this through examples from India of “how communities have traditionally found that harmony and institutionalized it in various ways as delimiters for human action.”
