In early 2006, the eminent environmentalist Sri. Sunderlal Bahuguna visited the medicinal plant garden of CCD in Sevayoor and launched the programme called ‘darisanam’ under which the rural youth are provided with knowledge on the herbal utility of the local flora with the cultural aspects of preserving them. As a follow-up CCD and friends developed the concept of Karmakeshetram as a location that would be a habitat for culturally localized entrepreneurs and their knowledge would be shared with the youth for a sustainable future. Samanvaya is
involved with conceptualising and framing of this initiative.
