Samanvaya undertook two studies on Rural Health Expenditure and Care of Rural Elderly respectively, based on surveys undertaken by DHAN foundation, Madurai. These studies facilitate the understanding of the rural indian health scenario. In addition, considering the worsening situation of elderly across the country, and especially the poorer sections, DHAN foundation has been evolving new initiatives through the Kalanjiams (Self help groups) to improve the care and quality of lives of the aged citizens in the Kalanjiam's operational area. The recommendations in these reports would also go a long way in enhancing these initatives..
